Makeup Bag Must Haves

Every girl has their makeup bag must haves…

For me, makeup is something I have always had a passion for. Like most girls, I love playing around with makeup and have done so from a young age.

Unfortunately for me, I seem to have missed the memo where everyone upped their makeup application skills x 1000. So, I spent a lot of time last year attending various different makeup masterclasses with various different brands such as Charlotte Tilbury and Dior.

Discovering New Products

Not only has this allowed me to pick up lots of tips and tricks for application, it has also afforded me the opportunity to familiarise myself with new brands. Sometimes even products I had never previously entertained.

I usually come away from these masterclasses with new products. Be them in goody bags or purchased. Some make it to my core makeup collection and others make it to that other makeup bag. You know the one we all have, full to the brim with products that never get used. Yeah, that one.

There are some though which have now become staples of my makeup collection. Products I wear every single day, regardless of the ‘look’ I am going for. Some have even replaced old favorites.

The Makeup Must Haves

Every girl needs makeup bag staples. I, myself, didn’t realise how much they were needed until I had them.

As I say, I have spent the last year or so developing my makeup skills and thus, upgrading my makeup bag. My makeup bag is where the real glow up is too tbh.

That being siad, allow me to introduce you to my makeup bag must haves. These are the core of all of my looks:

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Radiance

Makeup bag must have: Laura Mercier Foundation Radiance Primer

You may be surprised to learn that prior to attending a Laura Mercier Makeup Masterclass, Primer is not a product I actually really paid much attention to. That was until I received a sample of this primer and it changed me!

Firstly, the sample has actually lasted so so long that even though I have since bought the full sized product, I am yet to open it as the sample is still going. I use this primer every time I wear make up too.

This primer gives a gorgeous, gentle glow so it is great even on its own. Complexion is evened out when the primer is applied and it really does help foundation stay put all day long without going ‘cakey’.

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Setting Powder

Makeup Bag Must Have: Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Setting Powder

Again, setting powder is not a product I ever really paid much attention too. However, seeing the perfect finish this powder provides converted me.

This one is particularly good underneath the eyes as it has brightening properties. Which is very much appreciated in aiding the covering of these massive eye bags I am carrying around with me at the moment!

This powder basically does exactly what it says on the tin. Brightens up the complexion, assists in blurring out any imperfections, all whilst making sure all makeup stays exactly where it is placed.

Maybelline Eyeliner

Makeup Bag Must Have: Maybelline Precise Eye Liner

Winged eyeliner is my thing. Regardless of the occasion. My eyes look like pee holes in the snow without it. I spent years on a quest to find the perfect black eyeliner, that stays put ALL day and is easy to apply. Enter Loreal Eyeliner. This felt pen liner is literally the easiest to use making it super easy to draw my beloved wings.

Dior Backstage custom pallette

Makeup Bag Must Have: Dior Custom Eye Pallette

As you have probably gathered from the description on the previous core makeup product, I wasn’t blessed with the greatest shaped eyes. They need all the help they can get. The dior backstage custom pallette is perfect. It has all the colours you need to contour the eye as well as take you from day to night. Which is an added bonus. I am a girl that is constantly on the go. Often I am doing my make up in the car as Chris is driving us to whereever we are going. so, it is key for me to be able to fit all the makeup I need into one bag. This has actually been a deal breaker for some products I have loved because it has just been too much of a pain to carry them around with me.

Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Mascara

Makeup bag must have: Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes volume two

Apply a little or apply a lot. This mascara works with every look. Meaning you can either create light natural looking lashes or a dramatic false lash effect. No matter how much you apply, the product does not clump meaning no spider leg lashes. Just perfectly defined, fluttery eyes.

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat

Make up bag must have: YSL Touche Eclat

No makeup bag is complete without a decent concealer. Touche Eclat from YSL is the perfect concealer. It is lightweight but heavy duty

The highlighter is also a gorgeous colour. The pigment is very natural but it catches the light beautifully. It’s definitely not an extreme highlighter but that’s perfect for me. I prefer a more natural finish than a tin man finish.

Makeup Must Haves Round up

So, there you have it. The 6 core products behind every make up look I create. The majority of these products I have discovered at make up masterclasses like I mentioned above. The others, through my own trial and error over the years.

I am curious to know what your makeup must haves are? What would you makeup bag be incomplete without? As a self confession makeup fanatic, I am always eager to try new products so, if there is something you think I should try then please do let me know in the comments below.
